Co-Writers
Mary Darling and Clark Donnelly
Mary Darling and Clark Donnelly are committed to telling stories with the potential to inspire. With 'Cast Aside the Clouds,' they set out to write a film inspired by real events — a love story that also invites audiences to investigate the truth for themselves and resonates on a universal level.
Both became Bahá’ís independently in 1982, in the aftermath of the Iranian Revolution, and witnessed the displacement of Iranian Bahá’ís fleeing persecution. To write this story, they collaborated closely with Persian partners to ensure authenticity and cultural depth. They hope the film will honor the resilience of those who continue to endure such trials while challenging audiences to reflect on their own relationship with truth, justice, and the courage to stand up for what they believe.
Bre Vader, Tal Bolin, and Noam Jenkins joined the writing process, each bringing distinct creative insight and voice to the project.
Their consultation and collaboration helped shape a more layered, dynamic script — one enriched by multiple perspectives and strengthened by thoughtful dialogue across cultures and disciplines.

Can personal conviction endure in a world that rewards conformity?
Together, this ensemble brings a richly textured and globally informed presence to the screen.
Their shared commitment to socially conscious storytelling creates a powerful dynamic that elevates the film’s exploration of identity, resistance, and human connection.
